Great Hairdressing Advise Yields Best Results

By Dennis E. Price

A weekly salon trip is a luxury few can afford. Most people only able to see their stylist once a month, some wait six weeks. To keep hair looking great between professional treatments, follow some simple hairdressing advise.

Though lots of fun, a lot of lather during a wash could be doing more harm than good. Many shampoos end up leaving a residue behind that builds up on the hair shafts making them heavy so that they dull faster than necessary. Switching to a formula that does not contain sulfates will greatly reduce suds and leave hair looking healthier.

Hot water may feel great but it excites the cuticles and makes them appear rough. Applying a cold rinse just before finishing will be quite effective at reversing this issue. The cool splash relaxes hair and allows it to calm down and take on a smoother look.

Another big mistake is drying hair with a towel. The cotton fibers agitate the cuticles and cause them to stand open in all directions and looking frizzy. The better choice is to squeeze out as much excess water as possible and allow tresses to air dry for about ten minutes before breaking out the blow dryer.

Product is more effective when applied to hair and allowed to soak in for about ten minutes before styling. Heat should not be haphazardly blown all over the head but done one section at a time, using a round brush to control it from the roots to the ends. Permitting the finished parts to cool down before moving to the next adds body and helps the style set better.

To help avoid dulling while waiting on the next color treatment, try applying a home glazing treatment which is available at most drug stores. When getting to the stylist is not possible, following their hairdressing advise could help keep things looking good. Just making these few changes in one's regular routine can have a big impact.
